Unfortunately, depression in children is real, and not uncommon.  Being a kid can be tough.  The books below specialize in helping depressed children (see also books for depressed teens).

Tip:  If you or anyone in your family suffers from depression, watch your children closely for the symptoms of depression.  Depression is thought to have a genetic predisposition.

Tip:  If you think your child is depressed, don't wait for him or her to "snap out of it".  Get them help immediately.  Remember that thought of suicide can be part of depression.  Children need help to realize that how they feel now is not how they are always going to feel.  Don't wait.
